Message from AKJ President

Association of Korea Journalists (AKJ) was established in 2001 with the purpose of enhancement of freedom of press in Korea. AKJ has representations of all leading dailies, weeklies and monthly publications in Korea as well as web, digital publication and electronic media. Since its inception in 2001, AKJ has spared no efforts to establish the journalist unity and to improve journalist knowledge and professional duties by organizing seminars, publishing professional books and fostering relationships with foreign journalist organizations, to name just a few. AKJ has also taken initiative in building IT awareness and IT culture in our profession to usher in multimedia era. In future, AKJ will try to establish the digital databank and will conduct several studies on local and global aspects of digital media developments. AKJ is ready to analyze different government initiatives and industry performance regarding online and offline media and will recommend different policies for the welfare of this sector. BIJF will also try to make their contribution on several global issues such as Digital Divide, Information Society and Knowledge based Economy.

Association of Korean Journalists(AKJ) is one of the leading Korean journalists organizations.which was launched on January 15, 2001 by a group of senior Korean journalists working for the printed and electronic media and some of the top journalists in the country. from network news anchors and reporters, editors to national TV show producers AKJ promotes international action to defend press freedom and social justice through strong, free and independent professional activities of journalists. AJK believes in freedom of political and cultural expression and defends basic human rights. AKJ is committed to strengthening ties among senior journalists

AKJ extends PR consulting services to expatriates
AKJ focuses its work on social and professional issues relating to the enormous changes affecting the media industry. It works for fair and accurate coverage of international news in particular free from ethnical ... AKJ is providing information and PR services to foreign embassies and organizations in Korea.Its PR teams are specially trained to target particular challenges that Koreans and expatriates face in cross-cultural situations.

AKJ on offensive against barriers to news coverage
AKJ is an internationally recognized voice on press freedom in Korea. At home, we are constantly on the offensive against barriers to news coverage, such as legislation that infringes on the free flow of information and the public's right to know. We also seek to raise professional standards, organising seminars and workshops to improve reporting skills and keep members informed of developments in the profession. We also organise overseas tours to places where news is breaking, to enable members to get on-the-ground knowledge of major events.
